UV Tanning FAQs
What types of tanning beds do you offer?
Vernonia Tan & Beauty offers premium horizontal lay-down UV tanning beds. We have retired all stand-up tanning units to focus entirely on comfortable, high-performance lay-down tanning.
Do I need an appointment or do you accept walk-ins?
Walk-ins are always welcome during our open salon hours! You can also book ahead through our Square online booking link to guarantee a specific bed time.
How long is a tanning session?
Session lengths depend strictly on your skin type, recent UV exposure, and FDA exposure schedules. Beginners start with shorter times (typically 4–7 minutes) to build a base tan gradually without burning.
Do I have to wear protective eyewear?
Yes. Federal and state health regulations require certified UV eye protection during every tanning session. Towels, eyeshields, and protective eyewear are available at the salon.
How often can I tan?
FDA guidelines recommend waiting at least 24 to 48 hours between UV tanning sessions to allow melanin development and prevent overexposure.
